Lani grew up doing the Hunter circuit, qualifying for the Junior
Championship at Madison Square Gardens. She took time off
from competing to go to Vet School, graduating from Purdue
University in 1984, and now practices Small Animal
Veterinary Medicine. Lani discovered Eventing thanks to the 1987 Pan-Am
Games held in Indianapolis, and finished 6th at her first event (Hearthstone
Horse Trials) on Yogi, her old quarter horse.
Lani currently has 2
horses, Tumble Dry, a 12 year-old Thoroughbred that she competes at Preliminary
and Intermediate, and He's A Cool Cowboy, a 5 year-old Quarter Horse
that she's going to start at Novice in 2001. Lani's had Obie (Tumble Dry)
since 1993, and has been very successful with him, winning events at Novice,
Training, and Preliminary. They completed their first Intermediate cross-country
run at Champagne Run, clean and fast, only to have to withdraw prior
to stadium. They hope to have another shot at it in 2001.
But who cares about horses? Here's Lani's real pride & joy, Augie
